Silverfish Habits: Silverfish and firebrats are common in houses throughout the United States. Silverfish favor a dark, damp environment and need a large amount of starch foods, sugar, glue, paste or mold. They can bite holes into your clothes. These insects can nourish on wallpaper, natural testiles, books and papers.

Silverfish can be found in basements, kitchens, sinks, bathtubs, in bookcases, closet shelves, behind baseboards, wallpaper, window or door frames. Large numbers can sometimes be found in new buidings in which the walls are still damp.

Silverfish are active at night and hide during the day. In apartment houses these insects follow pipelines from the basement to the rooms on lower floors where they find food. They may be found in bookcases, around closet shelves, behind baseboards, and behind window and doorframes.
